and enforce the rights of all people with disabilities, especially people with intellectual disabilities. There has been progress in 66 years but Anffas never stops encouraging and raising awareness.
Today the meaning of the acronym is National Association of Families and People with intellectual disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders.
This birthday is celebrated by Anffas in Altamura with an initiative that involved the young people: dressed in black they wrote on their bodies the main principles of inclusion, such as having a dignified future, the freedom to choose for one’s life and the hope of an independence that is inclusive, made of work. Because we are certain that they too can make a contribution to our community.
“Our headquarters in via Caduti di Nassyria offers fundamental services for disabilities – writes Anffas Altamura – in partnership with other associations and bodies we plan and carry out musical workshops for minors and adults every day, assisted activities with animals, individual hydrotherapy courses, as part of sporting activities we participate in basketball, table tennis and motor exercises courses. In collaboration with the Faculty of Educational Sciences of Bari we host internships for the training and orientation of aspiring educators. We are accredited to activate National Civil Service projects and volunteering. Here there is always an open door for advice and news regarding our rights relating to disability”.
Today is also the 17th National Day of Intellectual Disabilities and Neurodevelopmental Disorders. All photos are published on https://www.facebook.com/anffas.altamura.
