The prevention and repression activities of crimes linked to the dealing of narcotic substances carried out by the soldiers of the Armed Forces do not stop. Catania, aimed at combating one of the major sources of supply for organized crime.
In this context, the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Piazza Dante Company arrested a young 20-year-old from Catania, a convicted criminal, for the crime of “possession and dealing of narcotic substances”.
The “headquarters” for the supply and sale of drugs was an apartment in the Cerza area, where an unusual coming and going of young people who entered and exited in a rather suspicious way from the entrance door of the condominium did not go unnoticed by the Carabinieri.
The soldiers, therefore, after having stationed themselves on several occasions in a nearby street, in “discrete mode”, including the operational scenario in which the illicit activity took place, they planned the methods of irruption, intervening not before having “cinched” the area, with the support of other patrols, to block any escape routes.
At that point, while a team approached the building, the pusher left the front door to make a delivery and, realizing the presence of the Carabinieri, attempted to escape, but after a few meters he was immediately stopped. The personal search allowed the soldiers to discover that the pusher had hidden 42 doses of marijuana inside the jacket. Obviously the apartment from which the young man had left was also searched and, in his bedroom, the military found a further dose of 6g of marijuana, a perfectly functioning precision scale, a vacuum machine, material for the packaging and €825 divided into banknotes of various denominations.
The drugs were seized and will be examined by the Narcotics Analysis Laboratory of the Carabinieri Provincial Command of Catania, while the pusher was arrested and made available to the Etna Judicial Authority which validated the provision.
