Decades have passed since the death of Lady Diana but his memory is more vivid than ever. Thanks certainly to all the good she left on Earth, even though she left very young, as well as to the great resemblance of her granddaughter Charlotte who is increasingly similar to her and is facing the first major obstacle in his life through the mother’s illness Kate Middleton. Now, many years later, the London residence of the father of the former Princess of Wales and her stepmother was put up for sale for the sum of 12 million euros. This is also the first time the building has been put on the market since it was vacant.

What Lady Diana’s father’s house looks like

Lady Diana’s father’s property is very extensive and consists of five bedrooms. Its prestigious position also makes it acquire value: it is in fact located in the elegant one Mayfair district but has not been available for purchase for over 2 decades. For this reason, its singular appearance on the market aroused the curiosity of those who no longer even remembered it and today are wondering about the reasons for this choice.

The construction dates back to thebeginning of the 80s and is a four-storey residence at 24 Farm Street, first linked to Lady Diana in 1990 when her father, Earl Spencerhe bought it as a gift for his hated stepmother, the Countess Raine Spencerwhich the Princess used to call Acid Rain.

What happened when Earl Spencer died

Upon the death of Earl Spencer, his wife Raine assumed full ownership of the property. Not long after, in the few years between divorce of Lady Diana and the then Prince Charles and the tragic accident in which she lost her life, the Princess had become a regular visitor to the house which remained among the family’s possessions until 2000. Immediately afterwards, Raine decided to move to a red brick building in Grosvenor Square, then sold to art collectors Alan and Mary Hobart.

The house was put up for sale by executors of the Hobarts’ will: Alan died in 2021 and Mary in February 2024. The listing is managed by Wetherell and Chestertons. “On the market for the first time in 22 years, this impressive home in the heart of Mayfair has had two notable owners, Countess Raine Spencer and the Hobarts,” Wetherell founder and executive chairman Peter Wetherell said in a statement.

“When Countess Spencer owned 24 Farm Street, guests included her stepdaughter Diana, Princess of Wales, Count Jean-François Pineton de Chambrun, Mohammed Al Fayed and the famous hairdresser Peter Constandinos. When the house was owned by the Hobart family, the walls displayed many prestigious works of art and the property served as a private art museum,” the announcement reads.

How the house is made

The house is completely stuccoed in cream colour and is equipped with sash windows. It also has a large south-facing roof terrace and a private garage in an underground car park which presents itself as an appurtenance separate from the central block but included in the sale.

The house is finished in a rather refined manner and is characterized by a large living room completely furnished by the Spencers. There is also a large library and all bedrooms have private bathrooms and walk-in closets. The residence is also accessible from several points.
