Paolo Virzì asked the Carabinieri to activate the «code red» after the furious argument with his ex-wife Micaela Ramazzotti and her new partner Claudio Pallitto, which occurred in a restaurant in the Aventine area of Rome. In the last few hours, the Carabinieri of the provincial command sent an initial report on the episode of 17 June to Piazzale Clodio, which was followed by the opening of an investigation file – at the moment without suspects or hypotheses of crime – opened by the capital’s prosecutors. The news of the director’s decision to request an accelerated procedure for the protection of potential victims from stalking and family violence was reported by Corriere della Sera.
Code red, what is it
The ‘Red Code’ is a law that protects women and those who suffer violence, persecution and mistreatment. This is L.69/2019 entitled ‘Amendments to the Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure and other provisions regarding the protection of victims of domestic and gender violence’. The directive introduces new crimes, toughens the penalties for existing ones and develops a procedure to better and sooner protect those experiencing risk situations. With the ‘Red Code’ – which in these hours in Parliament has seen the approval of further changes regarding the gathering of information from victims – an acceleration is expected for the initiation of criminal proceedings for some crimes: stalking, mistreatment in the family, sexual violence. In these cases, measures to protect the victims are adopted more quickly.
The joke, then the argument
The two versions of the argument given by Virzì and Ramazzotti are different and conflicting. The actress reported the dynamics of the dispute to the police at the Aventino station in the complaint that Adnkronos was able to view. Ramazzotti explains: I was with my daughter and my partner, sitting at one of the tables outside the ‘Insalata rich’ restaurant in Piazza Albania, when I met my ex-husband, his daughter Ottavia (35 years old born from the director’s relationship with the actress Tiziana Cruciani, ed.) and our little son. «They approached us and her daughter made some jokes towards me. I asked my son to come closer to me – the actress’s words – but Ottavia and her father prevented him. At that point the daughter started filming the scene and verbally attacking me. My boyfriend intervened because the situation was getting heated, given that my ex began to threaten me and insult me with words like ‘s..damn… you suck'”. So, the actress continues, I took my daughter’s phone and I threw it on the ground. My ex-husband was trying to attack me and my boyfriend was trying to block the blows with his arm. No throwing of chairs, but Micaela Ramazzotti herself pointed out how the ex’s daughter was husband, in an attempt to get the phone back, scratched my arm. For her, who had a medical report like all the protagonists of the affair, a five-day prognosis for minor abrasions.

Here is Virzì’s story: «Tuesday evening I was walking with my children looking for a restaurant to have dinner in, when we were attracted to one of the tables by my ex-wife’s insults. Passing in front of the ‘L’Insalata Ricca’ restaurant in Piazza Albania, I saw my younger daughter sitting at one of the tables outside with her mother and her partner. I wanted to say hello to the little girl, so I approached her with our son. Immediately I was confronted. The director also confirms the video shot by his eldest daughter, but to document the attack which then led to scratches on the arms and various tugging. The director and his daughter also reported with a five-day prognosis.
