The night lights up with magic, with the most awaited event of the year: the FAI Summer Evenings, with many events taking place from North to South, once the sun goes down. For the occasion, the properties belonging to the Italian Environment Fund (FAI) will remain open exceptionally longer. Furthermore, it will be possible to participate in aperitifs and picnics, concerts and shows, cultural meetings, trekking and guided walks, naturally after sunset. From the end of June to the beginning of September 2024, the calendar is really full of dates to mark in your diary. Here are the most evocative events.

FAI Summer Evenings, events in the North

There are over 300 events that will be held throughout the country, starting from the end of June and until the beginning of September. In Northern Italy, one of the most anticipated events is the exceptional evening opening of Brion Memorial, an imposing funerary monument located in the municipality of Altivole (province of Treviso). Inside are the remains of the spouses Giuseppe and Onorina Brion, as well as those of the architect Carlo Scarpa and his wife. The guided tours at sunset are scheduled for June 23rd, July 7th and 21st.

Moroni Palace, in the heart of the Upper Town of Bergamo, will host the Pellicole d’arte en plein air festival, from 6 July to 24 August: 6 excellent films will be screened in the gardens of the villa. On a hill a stone’s throw from Varese, the park of Villa Panza it will be the setting for the Ars Sonora concerts, scheduled from June 30th to July 21st. At the same time, you can admire the American art collection that is housed within its rooms.

FAI summer evenings, appointments at the Centre

In Assisi (province of Perugia), at the foot of the Basilica of San Francesco, there is a lush thousand-year-old forest that will come alive on June 29th at sunset, with the adventures of Agatha Christie and other courageous authors, in an event dedicated to reading in the open air. Instead, it is the Tuscan village of San Gimignano (province of Siena) that welcomes visitors with a guided tour of Campatelli House and its fascinating tower, with free tasting of a glass of Vernaccia. Dates to mark on the calendar? July 6th and 20th, August 10th and 24th, September 14th and 28th.

In Recanati (province of Macerata), a few steps from the house where Giacomo Leopardi was born, stands the garden of the ancient Monastery of Santo Stefano: it is here that the poet composed The Infinity. L’Garden on the Hill of Infinity will organize literary aperitifs under the stars, a real cultural journey, from 27 June to 9 August. Furthermore, as in many other properties belonging to the FAI, the appointment will be held on 11 and 25 July and 14 and 28 August Astronomers for a night: an observation of the starry sky to discover its wonders.

FAI Summer Evenings, events in the South

A special event is the one that will take place on July 27th at theAbbey of Santa Maria di Cerrate, in Lecce: this is the Children’s White Night, with lots of wooden games for the entertainment of the little ones and a guided tour dedicated to the whole family, to discover the thousand-year history of this place of worship. Finally, it is in the splendid setting of Bay of Ieranto, and more precisely at the promontory of Punta Campanella (province of Naples) where a short trek will be held with guided astronomical observation to discover the starry sky. Various dates are planned throughout the summer season.
