The films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as often happens especially when it comes to franchises of this size, arrive in theaters most of the time in heavily reworked versions compared to the first scripts: Deadpool & Wolverine will be no exception, as confirmed by the words of Kevin Feige and Ryan Reynolds.
After promising that Deadpool & Wolverine will change the MCU forever, in fact, Feige himself confirmed that he has rejected the first version of the script proposed to him by the actor: the reason, however, is to be found above all in having yet to define, at the time, the right way to insert the mutant into the franchise.
“The truth is, I still hadn’t figured out how to integrate Deadpool [nell’MCU]. I was thinking a lot on the right way to bring the X-Men and mutants into the MCU, I thought there needed to be something more. But the truth is that Ryan is an idea machine: he may have shown me that draft, but he also showed me at least other 25 different versions and ideas“were the words of the producer.
According to Reynolds, however, the initial version of the film envisaged a Rashomon-style resolution, with Wade Wilson and Logan involved in a story that would have been told from multiple points of view: Has the script been changed for the better? We’ll see! Here, in the meantime, is what the reshoots in Deadpool & Wolverine will be used for.
