He is accused of the crimes of solicitation of minors, production of pornographic material and of having taken advantage of the relationship of trust he had with some underage students to perform sexual acts with them. A young 27-year-old sports instructor, a teacher in numerous city gyms, was arrested by the police after long investigations. The precautionary measure of house arrest was issued by the investigating judge of Palermo, at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and originates from the report of a parent who, alarmed by the stories of his fourteen-year-old daughter regarding one of her peers who had confided to her that she was the subject of sexual attentions from their sports instructor, had reported to the judicial authorities the dangers to which some young students were exposed.
This father’s input made it possible to launch intensive investigations which made it possible to identify a young instructor, allegedly responsible for the crimes committed against at least two students, under the age of 16, “taking advantage of his privileged position and the relationship of trust established with the girls and their parents, unaware of the dangers to which their daughters were exposed”.
“The sensitivity and professionalism developed by the investigators of the judicial police section made it possible to establish a relationship of trust with the alleged victims of abuse, who, freeing themselves from fear and shame for what they had suffered, confessed to the behavior of their instructor “, we read in the measure that led to the arrest. The investigations involved the use of modern and sophisticated investigative techniques, and computer equipment for the analysis of electronic flows which were crucial in identifying the sources of evidence.
The attention developed by the investigators of the judicial police section focused on the electronic devices and social platforms used by the suspect, in order to lure his young victims with whom he produced the child pornography material. A topic, that of the distorted use of social networks, which is very topical and which creates alarm for young people who make extensive use of electronic devices and IT platforms and who can fall into the trap of those who intend to take advantage of them.
At the end of the formalities, the suspect was taken to his home where he was subjected to the precautionary measure of house arrest: he will not be able to have access to any IT, telematic or telephone tool.
