From June 9, 2024the sixth edition of the project beginsProtection at a new level” by Nivea Sun in collaboration with the Italian Red Cross (CRI). This initiative, of great social and health importance, involves the activation of a Mobile dermatology clinic which will cross Italy to carry out free skin screeningspromoting prevention and sun protection education.

The first stop will be in Milan, where citizens will be able to take advantage of free dermatological visits. This tour, consisting of nine stageswill offer the possibility of checking the health of one’s skin, a fundamental initiative considering that the incidence of skin melanomas is constantly increasing. In the last five years, in Italy, deaths attributed to cutaneous melanoma have been 4,000 in males and over 3,000 in females, according to data from the Istituto Superiore di Sanità.

Anna Grassano, General Manager of Beiersdorf Southern Europe, underlined the importance of this campaign, which aims to raise awareness among the population aboutcorrect use of sunscreen. Although Italy has a low penetration rate of the sun category (28% according to Nielsen Consumer Panel 2023), education and prevention can make a difference in the fight against skin cancer.

What will be the places touched

Rosario Valastro, President of the Italian Red Cross, made it known that the awareness and prevention campaign carried out with Beiersdorf is part of the initiatives and projects that the CRI, through the territorial committees, implements every year with the aim of educating the population and encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyles.

The “Protection at a new level” project is not limited to screening: extensive work is also planned dissemination of information material, which will allow CRI volunteers to reach a wide audience, including many young people. The initiative also involved the primary and lower secondary schoolsraising students’ awareness of the importance of skin protection through recreational and educational activities and distribution of gadgets.

With the free screening tours, hopefully increase awareness and the adoption of protective behaviors against damage caused by exposure to UVA and UVB rays.
