Eleven months after the flood that hit Romagna, another public space will soon be restored. This is the municipal gym of the ‘Ungaretti’ middle school in Solarolo, for whose restoration the executive project was approved a few days ago. In particular, last May the water coming from the breaches of the banks of the Senio which occurred in the nearby area of Castel Bolognese reached almost the entire Solarola area, flooding roads, fields, houses, businesses, sports facilities, parks and schools. Among the public buildings most affected and damaged by the flood was the Ungaretti school complex, whose structure also includes the gym, used not only by students but also by the Solarola sports clubs. Over the past few months, students and athletes have been forced to make a virtue of necessity. From September, however, and in particular from the beginning of the next school year, the gym should be usable again, both for curricular and extra-curricular activities, i.e. volleyball, basketball, artistic gymnastics, and gymnastics for seniors.

The restoration project presented was in fact approved by the public works sector of the Union of Romagna Faentina, and the expense, equal to 370 thousand euros, will be financed by the commissioner structure through the donation of the same amount provided by the Reale Foundation, a foundation of the Reale group which operates through a committee made up of representatives of the group’s companies including Reale Mutua Assicurazioni, Italiana Assicurazioni, Banca Reale, Blue Assistance, Reale Immobili, Reale Seguros Generales and Reale Vida.

These resources will finance the construction works for the restoration of the changing rooms, the filter area and the training spaces amounting to 169 thousand euros, the plant engineering works amounting to 73 thousand euros, the restoration of the adjacent classrooms for a total sum of approximately 40 thousand euros, the technical costs equal to 37 thousand euros, costs for cleaning, unexpected removals and furnishings equal to 10 thousand euros, in addition to costs for safety, VAT and incentives for a total of 45 thousand euros. Now, through a direct assignment procedure, the company that will carry out the work must be identified, followed by the actual assignment and then the start of the construction site, with the work expected to be completed in the summer and returned to use from September.

Furthermore, the school itself was involved in a Pnrr tender for seismic adaptation. Works costing 300 thousand euros which, together with the restoration works, will provide citizens with a completely redeveloped and safer school complex and sports space.
