“Guys, let’s go to the cellar.” Except that instead of cured meats, there are baskets for playing basketball. The young people in question are those from the Via Negri branch of the Colombini high school and the “cellar” is the nearby gym of the “Leonardo da Vinci” institute that students attend during physical education hours. Gym that has deserved this name – cellar in fact – due to theunmistakable smell of humidity that stagnates in the environment. Just look at the photographs from the last few days to see some noticeable mold stains on the walls: one is right behind the basket, while the other is between two windows.
The report comes from physical education teachers of Colombini who have seen the situation get even worse in recent days: “It feels like entering a cellar – they explain dejectedly – the smell is the same. It’s not healthy and it’s not hygienic.”
REPORTING TO THE PROVINCE
A report in this regard has already been sent to the Province which is responsible for the management of the high schools in the area: “A technician from the institution came to do an inspection – explain some teachers – there is a gutter that is broken or clogged. He assured us that action will be taken this summer. It’s a shame that we still have two months of school.”
GYM QUESTION: DISCOVERED NERVE
The “gym issue” at Colombini is, among other things, a raw nerve: in the headquarters the structure is the subject of an intervention that makes it unusable and so students are forced to move each time to logistically more inconvenient premises such as the gym at Cheope .
