The story of Geoff Sweeney it went viral on the web and moved everyone who came across it. The 52-year-old dad from Derby, England, discovered he has a terminal breast cancer. This would be a very rare cancer in men but which, unfortunately, affects them too.

In a recent interview given to Liverpool EchoGeoff told how he discovered he was ill: «It all started when I fell from a climbing wall and hurt my chest, I was beaten up and then I had a strange itch in my chest. back. After a few days, the bruises went away, but one didn’t want to go away and it was also a little swollen, plus my back was still itching. I went to the doctor and he had me do all the necessary tests. I discovered I have a breast cancer and I was shocked.”

Geoff Sweeney he told the Liverpool Echo: «After discovering that I had cancer, I started all the treatments but it is very aggressive and I don’t know how much time I still have left. I am terminally ill. Now, the only thing I want is to spend as much time as possible with my family: my wife Lyndsey and my daughters Freya and Sophie.”

Geoff then added: «I’m going to die, but no one can tell me when that moment will come because there is no precise time. At the moment not much has changed in my life, I just have this more awareness. From now on, I can only live everything to the fullest.”

The charity event

Soon, Geoff Sweeney will participate in the charity event The Show, a research and advocacy project promoted by the organization Breast Cancer Now, to raise awareness of breast cancer affecting men. The 52-year-old explained: «Yes, breast cancer predominantly affects women, but my participation in the evening is important to demonstrate that anyone, including men, can get breast cancer. What I would like to say is that if you have any worries or any strange sensations in your body, do all the checks, they can really save your life.”
