France returns to the polls following the president’s decision Emmanuel Macron to dissolve the National Assembly after the defeat in the European elections and the historic result obtained by the far right. The natural end of the legislature was in fact scheduled for 2027. According to the results of the latest polls, the victory of the National Rally in the first round of early legislative elections it could be overwhelming; the Ipsos forecasts, published by Le Monde, reveal that the party of Marine Le Pen brings together 32 percent of voting intentions. The latest report from the National Human Rights Advisory Commission which highlights a significant increase in racism in the country also confirms the shift to the right in French society. In fact, one in two French citizens admits that they no longer feel at home due to the massive presence of migrants. He therefore expects a record turnout with voters showing growing interest. Participation is estimated at 67 percent, an increase of 3 percent in just one week, i.e. 19.5 percentages more than in the last legislative elections in 2022. However, the popularity of the tenant of the Elysée is in sharp decline, plummeted to 36 percent. We therefore just have to wait for the results to see whether Macron’s strategy to stem the rise of the far right was a counterproductive move.
