It is not true that the CEO of Pfizer has not been vaccinated against Covid-19

On June 19, 2024, a video about X was published consisting of various clips of interviews given by the CEO of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer Albert Bourla. In one of the clips, a journalist asks Bourla when he plans to get vaccinated, and he replies “as soon as I can.”

According to the comment of the author of the post, «The CEO of Pfizer says that his vaccine is safe but what the hell is he who got vaccinated».

This is fake news.

The clip in question comes from an interview with Bourla CNBC of December 14, 2020. The journalist asks the CEO of Pfizer when he intends to get vaccinated, given that he was not yet vaccinated, and he replies that he will get vaccinated as soon as he can, explaining that he does not want to jump the queue. «I am 59 years old and in good health, I don’t work on the front line. I am not among the people who are recommended to get vaccinated now.”

In fact, in the period in which the interview took place, the vaccination priority in the United States was for older and vulnerable people, categories into which Bourla did not fall. For this reason, the CEO of Pfizer was not yet vaccinated.

On March 10, 2021, Bourla announced on his X account that he had received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and a few months later, in October, also the third dose. Sharon Castillo, spokeswoman for Pfizer, confirmed a Use Today that «Professor Bourla has been fully vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine».
