The Covid-19 pandemic and the responses implemented by our country have highlighted the strengths and critical points of a National Health System that is increasingly under pressure. The cuts to public healthcare, the development of private healthcare, the efforts of the regions and the contribution provided by third sector bodies constitute only the surface of a more complex story, the evolution of which must necessarily be studied in depth. For these reasons, forty-five years after the launch of the 833/1978 reform and faced with the need for a wide-ranging reflection on the developments and prospects of Italian healthcare, the Historical Institute of Resistance and Contemporary Society in the province of Livorno (Body third sector) has decided to organize – thanks to the funding obtained from the Ministry of Culture – a day of reflection entitled Before and after the 833 of 1978. Roots and developments of the National Health Service.
The conference will be held Friday 19 April at the Conference Hall of the Port Palace of Livorno (via San Giovanni, n. 13) and will be sponsored by the Tuscany Region, the Province of Livorno, the Municipality of Livorno and the Livorno Port Company. conference at the Palazzo del Portuale
The jobs will have start at 9.30, incipit of a morning session which will end at 12.30 and which, after institutional greetings, will see interventions by Chiara Giorgi (La Sapienza University of Rome), Federico Creatini (IMT Lucca – Istoreco Livorno), Luigi Giovanni Quarta ( University of Bergamo), Emanuele Rossi (Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies) and Tiziana Tesauro (CNR-IRPS). In the afternoon, however, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, a round table will take place featuring the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani, the regional councilor Francesco Gazzetti (who will also be moderator), the mayor of Livorno Luca Salvetti, the mayor of Castagneto Carducci and president of the province of Livorno Sandra Scarpellini, the president of SVS Marida Bolognesi and the general director of the USL NordOvest Maria Letizia Casani.
The day, open to all, will also serve as a training seminar for teachers.
