Bernard Arnault (75) has been named the world’s richest man of 2024 with an estimated wealth of $226.2 billion, according to Forbes’ 38th annual billionaires list, released Tuesday, April 2. Arnault heads luxury goods giant LVMH, which includes brands such as Louis Vuitton and Dior, and is the first Frenchman to top the world rankings after rising from third place in 2022.

Continued Jeff Bezos (age 60), the founder of e-commerce giant Amazon, who has amassed wealth of approximately $198.4 billion. Bezos stepped down as Amazon CEO in 2021 to become executive chairman. He is followed in third place by Elon Musk, which has $195.3 billion in wealth. Until March 2024, Musk and Bezos fluctuated between second and third place due to the changing stock prices of Amazon and Tesla. Musk (52) has co-founded several companies, from electric car maker Tesla to rocket maker SpaceX and also owns X (formerly Twitter).

Mark Zuckerberg (39 years old) from Meta, Larry Ellison (79 years old) from Oracle, Warren Buffett (age 93) of Berkshire Hathaway, Bill Gates (68 years old) from Microsoft e Larry Page of Google (51 years old) complete the top 8 of the richest people in the world. They are in ninth and tenth place Steve Ballmer (68 years old), former CEO of Microsoft, and Sergey Brin (50 years old), co-founder of Google.
