It was May 2018 when Marco Bocci he suddenly ended up in hospital, unconscious, due to a brain infection triggered by the herpes virus. Now, guest of Sunday Inthe forty-seven-year-old actor spoke again about the disease: «I didn’t remember anything at the beginning. One part of memory has returned, the other is lost forever. I can even watch a movie five times without knowing I’ve already seen it. It was hard at first, then I’ve learned to live with it». The actor also explained that the virus transformed him into a different person: «I have changed. Today I appreciate everything to the fullest. I used to try to plan things, now I like to live in the present without making plans and programs. And so I enjoy every moment».

The actor had spoken about the battle against oblivion a few weeks ago, also in an interview with Vanity Fair. «Since I lost my memory I have notebooks full of notes, notes on my cell phone. The real problem is that I don’t remember the faces and I don’t associate them with names. My strategy is to pretend I always know everyone. But then what happens? That I start talking in an affectionate, even intimate way, with people, trying to find a connection in the conversation that brings back memories of who I am. Then, maybe, after 15, 20 minutes, they say to me: “Can we take a selfie?”. But damn, I didn’t know them. In the theatre, however, while previously I could memorize a text in three weeks, now it takes me four months. At the beginning this thing obsessed me, now I accept the situation: if I don’t remember something, never mind.”

These days Bocci is on Rai Uno with the miniseries If I were youa Christmas tale in which he stars with his wife Laura Chiatti. Guest of Sunday Inthe actor admitted that sharing the set with his wife was «embarrassing»: «When you enter a character, you tell someone else through yourself. You’re used to doing it with strangers, doing it with my partner was strange to me.” The two actors have been together for eleven years and are parents of two childrenPablo and Aeneas. Nonetheless, he often gives rumors that they are on the verge of breaking up: «If we listen to the gossip, we have been in crisis seventy times. Let them say what they want. In fact, keep saying that we are in crisis, apparently it’s a good thing.”

However, Marco and Laura actually experienced a real crisis. It happened in July 2014, when one day after the wedding she asked him for a divorce. On the other hand, Bocci explained to Mara Venier, «we had decided to get married two weeks after we met. We got married very early, and the next day the adrenaline had worn off.” The situation «was so paradoxical» that Marco did not experience it as a real drama: “I said to myself: ‘We will be able to resolve it. How is it possible to swear eternal love and divorce a few hours later?”. When he told me I believed it 20 percent.” In fact his wife, “fortunately”, changed her mind. And today the two actors are closer than ever.
