THE CASE – This was announced by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the German city of Wuppertal. The details of the two extortionists have not been disclosed. As far as is known, the German authorities were notified by those in Switzerland, where Michael and his wife live. Thus house searches began which led to the seizure of “several data storage devices”. The suspects risk 5 years in prison.

THE PREVIOUS – But it’s not the first time that jackals have pounced on the case. In 2017 another man was sentenced by the Reutlingen Court to one year and nine months of probation for attempted extortion: he had threatened Michael’s children. But then, proving that he was not a criminal genius, he provided his own IBAN to pay the money into. Three years earlier, the sample’s medical records were stolen and then offered to various international tabloids for 50 thousand euros. The author, who signed himself Kagemusha San, was identified as an employee of Rega, the Swiss air rescue company that had transported the pilot: shortly afterwards, the man hanged himself in his cell in Zurich.
