German police allegedly arrested two individuals who tried to blackmail Michael’s family.
As reported by the newspaper Bild, the criminals would have asked for millions of euros, although the precise reasons were not revealed. Wolf-Tilman Baumert, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, said: “We are investigating a case of blackmail against a celebrity, we have executed arrest warrants. At the moment we cannot provide further informationi”. It is likely that the blackmailers threatened to spread stolen images of Schumacher in its current condition.
Unfortunately, it’s not the first time that something similar happens: in the past, an alleged friend of Schumacher had secretly taken photos during a visit to the champion’s Swiss home, portraying him in bed. Those images were offered to European newspapers for over a million euros, but no media agreed to purchase the material, which then became the subject of a judicial investigation.
Despite the time that has passed (and the alleged lesson) there are still those who are willing to sell their soul for money, ignoring the human drama that this would entail, especially for Shumacher’s family, who has the sacrosanct right to experience the drama of the accident of the former German pilot in peace and in total confidentiality. The German’s long-time friend, Roger Beniot, confirmed that Shumacher’s condition is not the best.
