Also in this case, Prince Louis attracted all the attention, first fiddling with the curtain cord. He then attempted to open the window, grabbing the frame as he tried to pull it up. AND finally, with his hands behind his back, he delighted the audience with a beautiful yawn, dancing throughout the show to the notes of the military march, perhaps to avoid falling asleep. All under the severe gaze of his sister Charlotte who, certainly, did not approve of the scene. A BBC journalist, after seeing the little one yawning, joked live: «Ah, Prince Louis steals the show, as always».
The apparition on the balcony
Trooping The Color ended, as tradition dictates, with the appearance of members of the Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Emotions have never been as intense and engaging as they are today with the whole family finally reunited in public again and the Princess of Wales who brightened up this gloomy day with her three children. The first to appear on the royal balcony were the Duchess of Edinburgh with her daughter, Lady Louise, the Duke of Kent, the Dukes of Gloucester and Sir Timothy Laurence, the husband of Princess Royal Anne.
After the 75 gun salutes, the King and Queen appeared with the entire family of the Princes of Wales and the other senior members of the RAF. The three children in the front row with their parents behind them rolled their eyes during the various passages of the RAF aerobatic team with Louis who surprisingly maintained royal aplomb by limiting himself to a few chats with George while his sister Charlotte greeted the audience. All the members of the RF appeared relaxed as they exchanged jokes with each other with their gaze turned more towards the sky than towards the people. As the national anthem played, they all stood at attention with the king placing his left hand on the hilt of his sword.

Also in past years, the three children of Prince William and Princess Catherine have joined other members of the Royal Family on the balcony of the Palace to watch the passing of Royal Air Force planes, the final event of the public celebration of the monarch’s birthday. The three children are now veterans in overlooking the royal balcony.
