Long interview by Simone Del Nero on tag24.it regarding the most important issues at Lazio. From Baroni’s arrival on the bench to the sale of Luis Alberto, the former Biancoceleste player expressed his thoughts by giving his point of view on the situation. Below are his statements.
“This season Baroni has proven to be an excellent coach. In Verona he had a team that was not competitive and he did well to have a great championship. Many players left him in January and he brought out the character of those who remained. In the final sprint they gave everything and were rewarded with safety. Next year there will be some news and some changes. Luis Alberto said goodbye and Immobile is on standby. Lazio will have to work above all on the transfer market, but I’m sure the coach will be able to make his contribution. We give Baroni time to work. For him it is the most important occasion and the best team he has ever coached. He won’t want to make a bad impression and will give his all to have a competitive Lazio on all fronts. Luis Alberto is a great footballer and has given so much to Lazio, who will inevitably lose something. However, keeping a player against his will is never good for himself, for the locker room and for the coach. It is right that he continues his path, even if he is far from Rome.”
“Market? Lotito always tries to find prospective players who are not already established. He makes bets and hopes to win them. Tare was a great sporting director and in recent years he has made great purchases, even if there have also been bad transactions. What Igli did, however, cannot be forgotten because he brought important players. I hope that now the club chooses players who are up to it. It’s normal for fans to always expect important and already established names, but that’s not Lotito’s style. Demonstration tomorrow? It’s normal for fans to ask for important results and I understand that, but it takes time and patience. Lazio will have to organize themselves and it is not easy. We need a plan, to be respected, without upsetting the team too much. I understand that the ultras have little patience, but it cannot be done otherwise.”
