Sharon Stone: «After the stroke, people were no longer interested in me: now I have been reborn as a painter»

There is a very specific reason why Sharon Stone, after suffering a stroke in 2001, she moved further and further away from Hollywood, and if today she is a painter (even quite successful). She explained it to Kate Garraway and Ed Balls of Good Morning Britain.

That cerebral hemorrhage that lasted nine days, from which the doctors feared she would not emerge alive (they had only given her a 1% chance of surviving), marked a “before” and an “after” in her life. It took seven years to recover, “a long enough time to lose momentum”, explains the actress, now 66 years old. «After seven years you are no longer up to the moment, you are no longer successful at the box office, the people you worked with no longer matter. Everything changes and people don’t care anymore. It’s not like you just go back to your job and think that nothing has changed.”

Sharon Stone felt hurt “that the world went on without me, but now I’m over it.” Today you are a profoundly different person from the past, and must deal with an invisible disability which conditions its existence. “People don’t know,” he explains. “People help you when they see you walk on crutches, but when you have some problems with brain function, no one notices.”

Thus, in recent years, the actress has preferred to take a step back from acting, and has begun to take an interest in art. He spends 17 hours a day painting in his Los Angeles mansion and his work receives a lot of interest: his first work was sold for 30 thousand dollars. Last month you presented a collection of paintings in an exhibition at the Gallery 181 of San Francisco, and it is not the first time he has exhibited his paintings. When she was asked why she started painting, she replied: «I was thinking about it the other day… I was thinking about how rarely women get to be what they want. Growing up, I wanted to become a painter.”
