“Ungrateful Tiziano Ferro, my husband cheated on me”

Among the women “who knew how to take their space without waiting for kind concessions”, who “got what they wanted”, living as “protagonists” and never as “followers” – this is the definition that Francesca Fagnani attributed in a interview with Corriere della Sera to the guests of his program, Beasts– there is also Mara Maionchi. Tonight her producer and talent scout will be a guest, together with Francesca Pascale and Piero Chiambretti, of the fifth and final episode of the tenth edition of the popular TV show, and will speak openly about her personal and professional life, from her husband’s betrayal Alberto Salerno at relationship with Tiziano Ferro, defined as ungrateful.

Mara Maionchi has been married since 1976 to Alberto Salerno, with whom she had two daughters.

Known for her brusque and hasty ways, which over the years have made her the “knowing aunt” of Italian television, with her brilliant outbursts and her deliberately out-of-place swear words, Mara rarely indulges in lyrical outbursts and confessions. But this time too, Francesca Fagnani’s journalistic talent hits the mark and she manages to get little-known aspects of the showwoman told. In the clips released in preview, there is room for family relationships, betrayals, but also gambling and unexpected confessions. You start by talking about work: “When you were asked if meeting her was lucky, you replied ‘For some, yes’, tell me who didn’t understand that meeting her was lucky?” asks the journalist. “I don’t want to name names so as not to be rude, but someone didn’t understand. In my opinion Tiziano Ferro didn’t really understand it. Because he didn’t think that both my husband and I helped him to be what in the end, in part, he is. But this is not important, it is not that it is obligatory to have gratitude”. A shocking revelation, much like the one made last week, again in Belve, by Antonella Clerici on Luciano Ligabue regarding the Sugo Gate.

The interview continues by addressing the delicate topic of gambling addiction. According to a statement from Maionchi reported by Francesca Fagnani, gambling was for the former X Factor judge “a way of responding to less than satisfactory family and personal situations”. But the producer downplays it: “I’ve never lost large sums. I don’t know whether to say if I have an addiction, but I like it, that’s why I contain myself.” Hence, the memory of that time when she got banned from casinos with a handwritten letter: “Yes, I got suspended, I was exaggerating, that was a way to defend myself”. And she continues: “I wasn’t scared but I found it a bit excessive.” The biggest win? “I won 23 thousand euros on a slot machine one evening at the Sanremo Casino.”

In the Rai2 studio we then move on to talk about the betrayal of her husband Alberto Salerno, a lyricist and record producer married in 1976. Despite almost fifty years of marriage, from which their daughters Giulia and Camilla were born, their relationship was marked by several affairs, which Mara discovered from a hotel receipt in her husband’s trouser pocket. “But Alberto wanted to deduct the VAT?” jokes Fagnani. “I must admit that it was also partly my fault if he looked for something outside. The red light was never there, a tragedy in short. Sexually I’m a bit modest… I’m not really good at red lights… I always have the abat jour” quips Mara, who also agrees to open up about her relationship with her mother. “I missed something – he confesses –. She didn’t come [al matrimonio] because she said that weddings made her sad. Mom was strange, she wasn’t an affectionate woman, but she was very strong.” And she concludes: “I urged her all my life to give me affection, a hug, something… but she didn’t have it . And I understood it later. Everyone is as they are.” A sad observation that can be found entirely in Mara’s bittersweet smile.
