“Still on TV, why don’t you stop?”, a surprising response

Much love for Gerry Scotti, but also many criticisms. Yes, because even one of the most popular faces on Italian television is not exempt, every now and then, from some teasing from his vast audience. His now forty-year militancy on the channels Mediaset leads him to be a pillar of the Biscione, today they call him “Uncle Gerry” and we see him protagonist in various entertainment programs: from “Tu Si Que Vales” on “Lo Show Dei Record”, not to mention “Io Canto” and the sudden hosting of “Striscia La Notizia”, Antonio Ricci’s satirical news program. Now, as often happens in reality, it also ended up on the latest cover of TV, Sorrisi e Canzoni, a weekly rotogravure founded in 1952, which contains the guide to TV programs and insights into current affairs, music, cinema and entertainment. The reason is simple: Gerry was chosen to host a special episode of “La Ruota della Fortuna”, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the king of quizzes, Mike Bongiorno.

Photographed on the cover, Jerry he exclaims: “It will be a classic recipe Mike Bongiorno cooked by me, Samira Lui will be at my side and you will discover how brilliant she is!”. Under the Instagram post on the magazine’s official channel, in no time at all, hundreds of comments were unleashed, many from enthusiastic friends and colleagues, others from the public. Among these, however, there are also those who did not like both the choice regarding the tribute to the great Mike and the cover of the magazine. A user writes: “Gerry Scotti holds the contract for the covers of Sorrisi”. Another, however, blurts out: “Enough of this.”

The presenter is complained about excessive media overexposure and, in fact, another user writes to him: “If you took a ten year break, if you distract yourself for a moment you’ll find it on the air again.” However, Gerry did not want to ignore this last criticism and, on the contrary, with his usual irony and intelligence, he preferred to respond brilliantly: “I will stop when Inter stops winning championships!”. A provocative response e self-deprecating for the one who is one of the most Rossoneri television faces that exist in Italy and who wanted to recall Inter’s latest title, won just a week ago in the Madonnina derby.
