The indiscretion was launched by the newspaper ‘La Stampa’, according to which Johnny Depp is hunting for a castle in the Canavese area and has been spotted in recent days near Montaldo Doraas confirmed by mayor Renzo Galletto. And right in Montaldo Dora there is a castle for sale. Will this be the Hollywood star’s next purchase? Developments are awaited.

Discovering Montalto Dora

Montalto Dora is located on the outskirts of Ivrea, along the Dora Baltea valley which marks its border to the west. On the opposite side, on the waters of the Pistono lake (one of the five lakes of Ivrea) stands the Castle.

The Morenico-Canavesano section of the Via Francigena passes through Montalto Dora. This town is particularly appreciated by lovers of excursions, both on foot and by mountain bike.

There is space, however, also for art and culture: in 2017, in fact, after the discovery of some traces of a pile-dwelling settlement dating back to the Neolithic on the banks of the lake, the archaeological park, where the reconstruction of a full-scale stilt house stands out. The culture and lifestyle of the first inhabitants of the area are documented at the Exhibition Space for the Archeology of Lake Pistono, located near the Town Hall, where some archaeological finds of considerable scientific importance are preserved.
