Fincantieri and Crystal announced today the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the construction of two high-end, next-generation cruise ships, plus an option for a third unit. “The value of the agreement, subject to financing and other terms and conditions, is significant,” a statement explained, specifying that this meaning means between 1 and 2 billion euros.

“The new units will have a gross tonnage of 61,800 tons and will be able to accommodate approximately 690 passengers. The interior design, developed by prestigious international architectural studios, includes the use of high-quality materials and craftsmanship. The ships will offer “all-suite” accommodations with private balconies, as well as several cabins for single use, a highly requested option and ideal for those traveling alone. The choice to offer absolute comfort is confirmed by one of the highest crew-to-passenger ratios in this segment, with personalized service and extreme attention to detail,” explained a joint statement.

Delivery of the first vessel is scheduled for spring 2028, while more information on the second unit will be made known later.

Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri, commented: “This order, in addition to testifying the strong recovery of the cruise sector, in line with the Industrial Plan, confirms Fincantieri’s leadership, thanks to the operational excellence of our shipyards and the executive quality of a unique supply chain worldwide. We are excited to collaborate with Crystal in the pursuit of innovation and excellence, today led by a shipowner who has always been close to Fincantieri like Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio”.

Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Executive Chairman of A&K Travel Group, said: “This order represents another important milestone in the 40 years of productive collaboration between Fincantieri and my family, which began with Sitmar Cruises, continued with Silversea and is renewed today thanks to Crystal. The goal is to continue to redefine the standards in the cruise industry, offering our guests an unparalleled level of service and an elegant and refined atmosphere”.

Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group, added: “Our goal is to continue to set a new standard in the cruise industry, offering our guests an unmatched level of service and sophistication.”
