The bonus electric columnswhich allows you to obtain tax breaks for installing battery-powered car charging stations, will be confirmed in 2024. It will remain available to anyone who wants to adopt this type of solution for their private home, both in a proprietary space and in the common spaces of a condominium.

The new fund made available by the Ministry for Business and Made in Italy should be around 20 million euros. There coverage will be up to 80% of the expenses borne by the customer, with a maximum limit of 1,500 euros for private individuals which can rise up to 8,000 in the case of condominiums.

Electricity column bonus 2024: the funds available

The Ministry of Business and Made in Italy also confirmed for 2024 a tax bonus for the installation of electric columns charging stations for battery-powered cars. The measure is mainly aimed at two categories. Private individuals who live in an independent house and those who live in an apartment that is part of a condominium.

For both there is a discount that may arrive up to 80% of the expenses incurred, significantly cutting the weight of the investment. However, the maximum spending limits are different. For private individuals, the maximum reaches 1,500 euros. For condominiums, however, which may require larger-scale interventions with the installation of several columns, you can even reach 8,000 euros. A home charging station can cost between 1,600 and 2,200 euros.

The overall maximum spending limit, therefore the fund made available by the Ministry for Business and Made in Italy in order to finance this measure, is 20 million euros in total and will have to cover the interventions carried out between January 2024 and the end of the year. You can therefore also request this bonus retroactively.

Electric column bonus 2024: how to get it

You can request the bonus for electric columns of charging for battery-powered cars anyone who has installed one in the indicated period. The following are covered by the bonus:

  • Purchase and installation of charging infrastructure, including – where necessary – the costs of installing the charging stations, the electrical systems, the strictly necessary building works, the systems and devices for monitoring;
  • Design costsworks management, safety and testing;
  • The costs for connection to the electricity grid, through the activation of a new POD (point of delivery).

To request the bonus you will need to access the online platform Invitalia, company that manages ministerial funds for business development, will activate when the ministry itself defines the timing of the electricity column bonus. It will be necessary, as in almost every case with regards to this type of procedure, to use a digital identity tool such as Spid or Cie to access.

The problem with the electricity column bonus at the moment, however, is precisely the timing. Even though the first six months of the year have already passed and on June 12th a ministerial decree has allocated the funds necessary to finance this intervention for the whole of 2024, there is not yet a precise date for its activation.
