Confirming itself as one of the most generous stock markets for investors, Piazza Affari offers a new round of dividends in June. The event is marked on the agenda for Monday 24 June. Of course, it is not a day full of dividends like the last event in May. In any case, it is a day that offers satisfaction to the shareholders of seven blue chips, more so for those of as many medium or small capitalization stocks.

The dividend yield beats the BTP

The one with dividends is a highly awaited event by both institutional and private investors with investments in the shares of the companies protagonists of the June dividend day. Also because Borsa Italiana is recognized as a market with a good average dividend yield among the stock exchanges of the most advanced countries on the planet.

According to Websim, which in a note dated 18 June relaunched Bloomberg’s calculations, “the average dividend recognized by all the FTSEMIB securities over 2024 is around 4.75%, higher than the return recognized by the ten-year BTP, to date 3.92%”.

In the group of blue chips that pay the dividend on Monday 24 June there are three stocks that reward shareholders with the annual dividend, three that remunerate investors with the balance that completes the interim dividends already paid in the past months and one stock that pays the share quarterly of the annual dividend.

Hera stands out among the stocks that distribute the entire 2023 annual share of profits intended for members. The Emilia-Romagna multi-utility detaches 0.14 euros which corresponds to a yield of 4.25%.

Leonardo LDO

Even Leonardo, the Italian heavyweight in the defense sector, remunerates shareholders with an annual dividend. However, this is a limited return. The Italian heavyweight in the defense sector detaches 0.28 euros for a dividend yield of just 1.22%.

Significant in contrast is the annual dividend yield of Pirelli, the global tire giant, which is 3.35% by virtue of the 0.198 euros distributed in June.

Italian Post Office PST

For Poste Italiane, at the end of May the shareholders’ meeting approved the distribution of an overall dividend for the entire 2023 financial year equal to 0.80 euros per share, resolving on 24 June the distribution of 0.563 euros per share as the balance of the dividend held account of the interim payment of 0.237 euros per share already paid in November 2023. The annual dividend yield is therefore worth an excellent 6.33%.

Snam does even better, with a dividend of 0.1128 euros in June which represents a balance dividend to be added to the 0.1128 euros already distributed in January 2024 as an advance. Overall, on the total dividend of 0.282 euros relating to the entire 2023 budget, Snam even offers a yield of 6.47%.

Like Poste Italiane and Snam, Terna also at first glance provides a limited yield on the dividend day of 24 June, less than 3%. But be careful. As anticipated, this is not the payment of the entire dividend for the year 2023 but only the balance. In fact, on the proposal of the board of directors at the meeting of 10 May, a dividend for the entire 2023 financial year of 0.3396 euros per share was approved, which corresponds to an increase of +8% compared to 2022. Except that this resulted in the green light for the distribution of the dividend of 0.2250 euros per share now in June as the balance of the interim dividend of 0.1146 euros already paid on 22 November 2023. The balance of the dividend will be paid with effect from from 26 June 2024 with the “detachment date” coinciding with 24 June. This is why if at first glance the dividend paid on Monday 24 June seems to yield less than 3%, in reality Terna’s annual dividend yield is 4.44%, which is also higher at a gross level than that of Poste Italiane and Snam. Ten-year BTP.

STMicroelectronics STMMI

The seventh blue chip to pay a dividend on Monday 24 June is STMicroelectronics. Be careful though. This is not the annual dividend, nor its balance. This is its classic quarterly dividend, moreover paid in dollars. In fact, it pays a dividend of $0.09 while the annual dividend yield is 0.55%.

The other stocks that pay dividends on June 24th

In addition to the seven blue chips mentioned, there are as many medium and small capitalization companies that will pay their dividend on Monday 24 June. Their names with the respective dividends paid are: Acea (0.88 euros), Carel Industries (0.19 euros), Digitouch (0.025 euros), Ferretti (0.097 euros), OVS (0.07 euros), Powersoft (0 .85 euros), Drums (0.15 euros).
