Fuel prices communicated by the national Confcommercio Figisc.

From 23 April to 9 June the national average price of fuels calculated on the basis of the MIMIT file of daily prices charged, it fell between 6.4 and 6.9 cents/litre for petrol and between 10.0 and 10.2 for diesel depending on the refueling method (self or served). For petrol, in fact, the served price dropped from 2.056 to 1.992 euros/litre (-0.064 and -3.11%) and the self-service price from 1.919 to 1.850 (-0.069 and -3.60%); for diesel, however, the served price drops from 1.942 to 1.842 euros/litre (-0.100 and -5.15%) and the self-service price from 1.801 to 1.699 (-0.102 and -5.66%). Information from the national Confcommercio Figisc press release.

Prices

For the gasthe price is 0.7-1.1 cents/litre lower than the 2024 average levels which is 1.999 euros/litre for served and 1.861 for self, for dieselHowever, the price is approximately 7.7-8.0 cents/litre below the 2024 average levels, equal to 1.919 for served and 1.779 for self-service. The price at the point of sale reflects with a high direct correlation (0.954 for petrol and 0.870 for diesel, out of a maximum value of 1.000) the trend in prices of finished products, Platt’s CIF Mediterranean.

Prices for petrol from 23 April to 9 June fall from 0.667 to 0.552 euros/litre (with VAT, from 0.814 to 0.673), with a drop of -0.115 and -17.24% (with VAT, -0.141), while the drop in diesel fuel is more limited: from 0.625 to 0.559 euros/litre (with VAT, from 0.763 to 0.682), with a drop of -0.066 and -10.56% (with VAT, -0.081). The latest petrol price is 7.5 cents/litre lower than the 2024 average (0.673 versus 0.748 with VAT), while that of diesel is 4.8 cents/litre lower than the 2024 average (with VAT, 0.682 versus 0.730).

The peculiarity is that the decrease in price between the two products was different from that of the price of refined products: essentially, a drop in the Platt’s price of €0.141/litre for petrol corresponds to a drop in the price at the pump of only 0.064-0.069 (depending on whether it is served or self), while a drop in the Platt’s of diesel of only €0.081/litre corresponds to a drop in the price at the pump of 0.100-0.102 (always depending on whether served or self); in short, the final price decreased the least for the product in which the Platt’s price decreased the most and vice versa.

This change in price was determined by the different modulation of the gross industrial margin factor, which increased in the case of petrol in the face of a significant drop in the Platt’s price and decreased in the case of diesel fuel in the face of a limited drop in the respective price. . However, if we take into account the average mix of sales (around 35% petrol, 65% diesel) this contradictory trend finds its partial compensation on average: the drop in prices, in fact, results with this proportion on average between products of around -0.102 €/litre (with VAT), compared to a drop in prices at the pump on average between the products of -0.087/-0.090 €/litre (depending on whether served or self-service): the average dynamic, therefore, is significantly similar between the change in the price at the pump and the change in the price of refined products, with a difference of approximately 1.2-1.5 cents/litre in excess of the selling price.

Price composition

In relation to the basic components of the final price, as of 09.06 the price of petrol is made up of 57.41% of taxes, 29.84% of the Platt’s quotation and 12.75% of the gross industrial margin (as of 23.04 the shares were, respectively, 55.99%, 34.76% and 9.25%); the price of diesel is made up of 54.33% of taxes, 32.90% of the Platt’s quotation and 12.77% of the gross industrial margin (as of 23.05 the shares were, again respectively, 52, 31%, 34.70% and 12.98%).
