Off to the 2024 car incentives. The Prime Ministerial Decree regarding the remodulation of incentives for the purchase of low-polluting emission vehicles was published today in the Official Journal. There new Ecobonus platform for the booking service for the purchase of low-polluting emission vehicles, it will be active from 3 June 2024 from 10am (https://ecobonus.mise.gov.it/). On the site, managed by Invitalia on behalf of Mimit, the forms for requesting the bonus will be made available and the tables which, broken down by vehicle category, show the criteria for attributing the contributions.

For Ecobonus 2024, a measure promoted by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy led by Minister Adolfo Urso, available resources equal to 950 million euros to which 50 million are added for vehicles for the current year allocated by law 30 December 2020, n. 178, for a total of one billion euros. Among the new features, contributions are foreseen proportional to the environmental class to which the vehicle to be scrapped belongs, including Euro 5 class cars.

Incentives, the table

The purchase of electric, plug-in hybrid and combustion engine cars with a CO2 emission level of up to 135 g/km, as well as electric and non-electric motorcycles and mopeds and light commercial vehicles is facilitated. The list price including optional extras (excluding VAT) must not exceed 35 thousand euros for cars in the 0-20 g/km (electric) and 61-135 g/km (thermal) bands and 45 thousand euros for the band 21-60 g/km (plug-in hybrid). The maximum contribution obtainable for the purchase of a new electric vehicle, for the scrapping of a vehicle up to Euro 2, will rise from 5 thousand to 13,750 euros for those in possession of an ISEE under 30 thousand euros.

The objective of the measure is to encourage the scrapping of the most polluting cars (Euro classes 0, 1, 2 and 3) which today represent 25% of the current fleet in circulation. With this aim, a contribution of up to 2,000 euros is foreseen for the purchase of used Euro 6 class vehicles with emissions of up to 160 g/km CO2, for the scrapping of a car up to Euro 4.

Finally, the provision introduces a contribution for the installation of new LPG or methane systems for transport on vehicles of class up to Euro 4: the contribution is equal to 400 euros for LPG systems and 800 euros for methane systems.
