New 730 refund, who and how to request it? Employer or Revenue Agency: pros and cons

As we had already written, employees and pensioners will be able to say goodbye to the old 730 form. In the wake of the tax reform launched last year, the “simplified” tax return makes its debut which, in fact, changes the method of sending the classic tax declaration. In essence, the new model is based on sections already filled in, based on the information held by the Revenue Agency. The taxpayer will be asked to confirm or not confirm data and numbers; and if they are wrong or non-compliant, he will be able to modify them following a guided process. The data already entered by the tax authorities and then confirmed by the taxpayer will be excluded from checks, exactly as happens with the pre-compiled declaration. Another novelty concerns tax refunds. From this year, in fact, taxpayers will be able to request a refund directly from the tax authorities, without going through the “withholding agent”. And this even if they have an employer who is normally required to make the adjustment. Bearing in mind that the times for direct reimbursement from the tax authorities are a little longer than the crediting to the pay slip, let’s try to see how it works.
