Opel Grandland: revolution inside and out

IT GROWS IN SHAPES – The new Opel Grandland it takes off the role of the average crossover and takes on the appearance of a robust SUV. In fact, the dimensions are growing significantly: it is 4.65 m long (17 cm more than the model it replaces) and is 1.90 m wide (6.4 cm more). Everything is new even “under the skin”: now there is the platform STLA Medium by Stellantis (it is the first Opel model to exploit this architecture), which made its debut on the market a few months ago with the Peugeot 3008 (here our first contact).

PRECIOUS DETAILS – These measurements combine with an imposing look, emphasized by the new one mask from the Opel Grandland 2024 which integrates full-width daytime running lights and (for the first time among the company’s cars) the illuminated logo. The main headlights are LED matrix and have more than 50,000 light diodes (25,600 on each side). There side it has a “clean” profile, embellished with eye-catching alloy wheels that can reach up to 20″ and by the upper edge of the doors which incorporates (hiding it) the seal at the base of the windows. In the tailgate you can see the full-width light band with the Opel writing in the center. A little higher up, a red vertical light integrated into the small spoiler has been added, while the model name is embossed on the bumper.

HI-TECH LOOK – The dashboard of the Opel Grandland, with a horizontal development, is dominated by the large 16″ display oriented towards the driver, which is flanked by a low and wide 10″ digital dashboard that does not provide much information. The central part of the multifunction steering wheel recalls in its shape the grille of the car, which Opel calls Vizor. There are still gods physical controls for managing the air conditioning, which uses side vents positioned in the upper part of the front doors. In the center of the console there is an illuminated translucent glass door that hides the wireless cell phone charger. In this way you can constantly monitor your device and avoid forgetting it on board when you get out of the car.

PAY ATTENTION TO COMFORT – The seats of the Opel Grandland they are very soft and very enveloping. In the richer versions, armchairs with are also available ergonomic certification AGR (issued by the German organization Aktion Gesunder Rücken e. V). The passenger compartment is very spacious and can easily accommodate five people: behind the passengers they enjoy 20 mm more legroom than in the current Opel Grandland. The trunk It has a regular shape and a capacity on the sofa 550 litres; reclining it, and loading it up to the ceiling, it reaches 1,641 litres. Even with the sofa lowered, there are no uncomfortable steps.

TWO HYBRIDS AND ONE ELECTRIC – There are three engines available for the new one Opel Grandland: we start from a 3 cylinder 1.2 turbo 48 volt mild hybrid petrol engine 136 HPwhich has a small electric motor (28 HP) integrated into the exchange robotic a double clutch six reports. Then there is the version plug-in hybrid 1.6 from around 200 HP, which promises up to 85 km of electric range. Finally, the Opel Grandland makes its debut electricwith over 200 HP and a generous 98 kWh battery (but let’s assume that in the future it could also come with less capacious “batteries”) for aautonomy declared by the house of approximately 700km. Fast direct current charging stations, with a power of 160 kW, for the home, go from 20 to 80% charge in approximately 26 minutes.

FROM ABOUT 40,000 EUROS – The offer is completed by a wide range of driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control with automatic restart, blind spot monitoring and a system that (in the event of an accident) applies the brakes to prevent the car from moving and risking further collisions. The car should arrive at the dealership around end of 2024with prices starting from around 40,000 euros.
