Publishing: green light from AGCOM, Messaggeries majority in the Libraccio Group (62 bookstores in Italy)

The operation that establishes the alliance between Messaging And Bookboyand which brings Messaggerie a majority in the Libraccio Group, today obtained the green light from theAGCOM.

As stated in the note, Emmelibri-Messaggerie “intends, with this operation, diversify your business in the distribution sector. Libraccio, booming, with 62 bookstores and over 500 employees, aims to accelerate growth with the presence of a leading partner in the publishing distribution sector.” Libraccio is in fact “the largest independent bookshop chain in Italy, founded in 1979 with the aim of making the book accessible to all thanks to second-hand books and of introducing more and more young people to reading. Today it is present in the area in 34 cities and 7 regions with 62 points of sale”.

Libraccio closed the ’23 balance sheet with 115 million in consolidated revenues, up 8.19% on 2022; opened 2 new locations bringing the number of libraries to 62.

In 2023 “the results of the site will be added to the consolidated balance sheet Libraccio.it, entrusted under concession to the Messaggerie-Feltrinelli-Libraccio joint venture (led by Feltrinelli); revenues that came close to 60 million, up 2.9% over 2022.”

Furthermore, the statement underlines that “in the first months of 2024 Libraccio recorded growth, despite a slight decline in the market in terms of copies and value and the subsequent reduction in support for the sector by the government“. In the first months of 2024, two new bookshops were opened: in Piazzale Loreto in Milan and in the historic center of Modena.
