The poet and writer Benjamin Prado (born in Madrid in 1961) has recently returned to the literary market with a long-awaited new novel, “El anillo del general” (available, for now, in Spanish and English). The book is nothing but the seventh chapter of his now famous saga detective story, which features a high school teacher and private investigator named Juan Urbano. During a recent interview, he was asked to talk about his character’s new adventures, but also to address other topics, including his literary tastes as a voracious reader and book critic. Here’s what he replied.

The novelist Benjamín Prado, during a recent interview, spoke at length about books, poetry, as well as established authors, emerging writers and much more. The incredible career of Luis Landero
For those who don’t know him, Luis Landero is a Spanish writer born in 1948. Journalist for the newspaper El País, he made his debut in fiction in 1989 with the acclaimed novel “Late Games,” obtaining numerous literary awards. Author of seven other novels, as well as essays and memoirhe taught at the Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Complutense University of Madrid and was – as if that wasn’t enough – invited professor at Yale University

His prose is well articulated and his characters are definitely intriguing. However, Landero considers himself an insecure writer, sometimes even an impostor, as he has repeatedly defined himself. However, he is definitely not an impostor for either the public or critics. In fact, the Spanish writer was the winner of the National Award of Literature for Fiction Spain, as well as many other prestigious awards.
