A tactile book for the Civitanova Art Gallery

Sunday 23 June at 6.30pm.
Mario Moretti Civic Art Gallery of Civitanova Alta.

An appointment for families and those curious about art among the colors of the rolling hills of the Marche.

As part of the “Lands that read” project of the Mozzi-Borgetti Library of Macerata, the Omero State Tactile Museum of Ancona created a tactile book entitled “Letter to the Most High by Annibal Caro” dedicated to the Mario Moretti Art Gallery of Civitanova Alta, to be used for multisensory and inclusive visits.

What is a tactile book?

A tactile book is a book with raised images and highly readable texts in Braille: it is an interactive and inclusive tool, much loved by girls and boys, and essential for those with visual disabilities. At the same time it is a real object of artistic craftsmanship that requires different skills: graphics, writing, typhlological and bookbinding. The book for the Moretti Art Gallery was created by the staff of the Omero State Tactile Museum of Ancona with a story conceived around the figure of the Renaissance man of letters Annibal Caro, in whose birthplace the Civic Art Gallery was organised.

What will we do?

We will discover with our eyes and hands the tactile book dedicated to the Art Gallery in the delightful garden, embraced by the rolling hills of the Marche region, and then we will make a short visit to the rooms of the Art Gallery and its incredible engraving and intaglio printing laboratory guided by the words of the Director Enrica Bruni
