Varied, rich and engaging. The program of the 10th edition of the Frabosa Sottana Mountain Book Fair scheduled for Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July at the Council Hall of the Municipality of Frabosa Sottana, in the province of Cuneo.

There are many events on the calendar, all with free entry, which will feature prominent names from the world of culture, society, economics, art and information.

The event will open on Saturday 22nd, at 10.30 am, at the end of the inauguration ceremony which will take place in the presence of the highest authorities of the territory, by the conference promoted by the Valle Maudagna Cultural Association in collaboration with the Mondovì Agrarian Comitium on the theme :

«Promotion and enhancement of the wood supply chain in Piedmont. Opportunities and development for the Cuneo area”.

Speakers at the conference will be Paolo Bongioanni, councilor of the Piedmont Region and promoter of the regional law on the wood supply chain, Attilio Iannello, director of the Mondovì Agricultural Committee, Evelina Borgna, teacher of the Forestry School of Ormea.

The part of the program reserved for literary presentations also promises to be full of leading figures. There will be eight books that will be presented directly by the authors.

This year, the writer Barbara Crepaldi will open the exhibition dedicated to books and will bring her “Fairy tales and nursery rhymes with forest animals” to the attention of the public on Saturday 20th at 4pm. In this new book dedicated to the little ones but which is also good for adults. Every fairy tale has a moral: a teaching tool for every season, to be together with joy and awareness.

Following this, the journalist Paolo Roggero will propose his “Francesco Castellino the man, the talents, the city”, a book on the multifaceted figure of the Monregalese fabric trader, public man, journalist, artist, musician, benefactor.

At 6 pm, Cinzia Dutto will present “Mountains to live”, a book that allows you to take a journey to discover a real mountain, colored by the modern mountaineers who live and choose it today.

Concluding the first day of the Show, at 9pm, will be Maria Castagnino, president of the “E Kyè di Fontane” Cultural Association with the book “Sono solo Fatzende”. It is a collection of “Fatzende” stories, fairy tales, legends passed down orally during evening vigils in the stables. The text was created in the language of Kyè to preserve the roots of a community with translation into Italian.

On Sunday 21 July the program includes the presentation of “The resistance of the very young, events, figures and destinies between Cuneese, Monregalese and Langa” by Ernesto Billò at 3.30 pm. How did the young people of the 1940s look at the war and the Resistance? Paying in person, they understood the deception and riskily distanced themselves from it, even with the contribution of very young people not yet of military age and courageous to the point of heroism.

At 4.30 pm it will then be Franca Acquarone’s turn. With “Tanaro amaro” the novel of the little girl who disappeared in Alta Val Tanaro. The author takes us inside the many souls of the story, good and bad, and none of these will be the same again.

At 5.30 pm Giorgio Ferraris presents “Mario Odasso”, the Alpine official in Albania and Russia. Odasso, born in Garessio, played a very important role on all the fronts where the Alpine troops were engaged in the Second World War.

The exhibition will close at 6.30 pm with Bruno Vallepiano with his latest work “Cold case al Grand Hotel”, a short detective novel written on the occasion of the journey of the historic Turin-Ormea steam train on 5 November 2023. Known for being, among other things, Also a journalist and screenwriter, Vallepiano is the author of novels attributable to the crime genre, specifically Mediterranean noir, and of books linked in various ways to the mountains.

The COOP bookshop of Mondovicino will be present with its own stand at the Mountain Book Fair in the Council Room of the Municipality of Frabosa Sottana offering all the books that will be presented and many others having the mountain theme with the following time: Saturday 22 July from 10am at 12.30 from 16.00 to 19.00 from 21.00 to 22.30; Sunday 23 July from 3.00pm to 7.30pm.

The 10th edition of the Mountain Book Fair is organized by the Valle Maudagna Cultural Association chaired by Gianni Dulbecco. The event enjoys the patronage of the Piedmont Region, the Province of Cuneo and the Municipality of Frabosa Sottana. It makes use of the important contribution of the CRC Foundation, the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Pianfei and Rocca de Baldi of the Municipality of Frabosa Sottana and some companies in Piedmont and Liguria.
