Faenza is immersed in the Tour de France: books, exhibitions and films to feel like you’re racing

After the opening on Saturday 8 June, with great public interest over the weekend, Friday 14 June, at 6pm, ‘Faenza, Faïence, bicycles towards the Tour de France’ will be officially inaugurated, the exhibition at Palazzo del Podestà which displays the bikes of Romagna cycling champions, their jerseys and much other unpublished material. The initiative was organized to welcome the historic passage of the second stage in Italy of the 111th edition of the Tour de France which will pass through the city and the heart of Faenza on Sunday 30 June.

Also on display a selection of ‘two wheels’, coming from the private collection of Vincenzo Collinalinked to the world of work and those used in the period between the two war conflicts together with the works of nursery schools on the theme of cycling.

However, Palazzo del Podestà will not only be home to the static exhibition. Until July 7, the Salone dell’Arengo will also host various events: book presentations, documentary film screenings and in-depth momentsall linked by the theme of bicycles.

Friday 14 June (6.30 pm), after the inauguration of the exhibition, hosted by the journalist Maurizio Marchesi, in which the champions of Faenza cycling, representatives of local sports entities, institutions and sponsors will participate, the book ‘The Tour mystery. Triumphs and tragedies, secrets and mysteries of the most important race in the world from 1903 to the present day’ will be presented (Minerva Edizioni) by the journalist Beppe Conti in dialogue with the journalist Roberto Feroli.

Upcoming appointments: Monday 17 June (6pm) with the presentation of the book ‘Ask me who Pantani was’ (Ed. Rcs Mediagroup) by Francesco Ceniti who will dialogue with the journalist Alessandra Giardini. We will be there on Wednesday 19 June (8pm). the screening of the documentary film ‘Le Grand Depart’, preceded by a talk with the director Stefano Ferrari and the champion Gianni Bugno. Wednesday June 26th (6.30 pm) will be presented the volume ‘The Pirate’s Map’ by Giacomo Pellizzari (Cairo Editore) the journalist Luca Gialanella will be in dialogue with the author. Piazza del Popolo will then host Thursday 27 June (from 5.30pm to 8pm). the ‘Children’s Gymkhana on bikes’ with the presence of the stands of the local cycling associations and associations that deal with road safety, an initiative in collaboration with the Faenza Bicycle Council. He will come on Saturday 29 June at Palazzo del Podestà the film ‘The Pantani case’ was screened in the presence of the director and producer Domenico Ciolfi and the actress and executive producer Monica Camporesi. The talk is scheduled for Tuesday 2 July (6.30 pm), again at Palazzo del Podestà, in collaboration with the C-Hub, ‘Building a bike: from steel craftsmen to carbon processing’. Then every Sunday, until 7 July, from 10am to 12pm and from 3pm to 7pm, at the Risorgimento Museum (Palazzo Laderchi, Corso Garibaldi 2) the exhibition ‘The War on Bikes’ continuesthe vintage ‘two wheels’, from Vincenzo Collina’s collection, used by the armies in the First and Second World Wars.

Opening hours of the Palazzo del Podestà, from Monday to Friday, from 5.30pm to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 12.30pm and from 5.30pm to 8pm. Sunday 30 June, the day of the passage of the Tour de France, from 9am to 12pm. The exhibition can also be visited by school groups and summer camp groups (reservations required at email [email protected]), in the time slot 9-12, Tuesday 18, Friday 21 and Wednesday 26 June.
