Sunday 9 May at 5pm Sangregorio Foundation of Sesto Calende (Va) the presentation of the artist’s book will take place ” The exile of the two shores” published by One Hundred Friends of the Bookan association of bibliophiles based at the Braidense National Library of Milan and which for almost a hundred years has been publishing high quality books with unpublished texts by poets and writers and graphic interventions by well-known Italian and foreign artists.

“The exile of the two shores” is a real synergistic meeting between different expressive languages. The poems of the Syrian-Lebanese poet Adonis, nominated several times for the Nobel Prize for Literature, are intertwined with the etchings of Giovanni Soccol, a highly sensitive Venetian artist, and with an original composition by Alessandro Ponti, a well-known composer.

The theme of exile, treated in the work, is declined under multiple aspects: from the painful necessity of migration to the environmental reflection on the pollution of the seas, placing particular emphasis on the historical and geographical link between the various shores of the Mediterranean. This book, therefore, is configured not only as a work of art but also as a historical and cultural document that reflects on the great questions of our time.

The choice to print the volume on handmade paper, by Anna Ziliotto’s Studio Gibralfaro in Verona, adds a further level of craftsmanship and uniqueness to the work, underlining the importance of preserving traditional techniques in the context of modern editorial production. As part of the presentation of the book, which will take place during the festival, the participation of Giovanni Soccol and Alessandro Ponti is expected. At the end of the event, the Harmonia Polyphonic Choir, known for its collaborations with Rai and its participation in festivals of national and international importance, will perform Ponti’s piece, creating a moment of high artistic and emotional value. Lorella Giudici, teacher of contemporary history, will dialogue with Laura Tirelli, bibliophile expert, delving into the meaning of the works presented and their production context. The interaction between the different art forms and the multidisciplinarity of the “The exile of the two banks” project present themselves, therefore, as a shining example of how contemporary culture can effectively contribute to the discussion on far-reaching themes, promoting a deeper and more varied understanding of the reality around us.
