On Saturday 8 June, at 6pm, Sara Calvani presents her book “Beyond your limits” to the public at the Melograno Art Gallery. The meeting will be led by psychologists Paola Catastini and Marina Casini, who collaborated in the writing of this book. During the afternoon the pianist Cristina Spina will offer a musical moment on the piano in the gallery.

“Beyond your limits” is the autobiography of Sara, who from a very young age had to learn to face life alongside a complex pathology, but who above all had to learn to survive in a world that wanted to make her feel wrong. This is her personal story, the tale of how she achieved a happy ending in a story that wanted her defeated at all costs.

The author

Sara Calvani, employee of the Livorno Prosecutor’s Office, made her debut as a writer at the age of 42 with the book “Beyond your limits”. Her life was marked by a degenerative neurological disease, Charcot Marie Tooth form 1A, developed at just 6 years old, and then diagnosed when she was 8, at the Gaslini hospital in Genoa. Here, followed with care and subjected to various surgeries, she found the necessary support to deal with her condition.

Despite the doctors’ pessimism and the bullying she suffered at school, Sara, supported by her family, never stopped fighting. Now she, employed since 2012 at the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Livorno, has decided to share her story in an autobiography written together with the psychologist Marina Casini and the graphic designer Francesca Schiano.
