the literary competition dedicated to Marino Monti is back

There will be time until Saturday 30 September 2024 to participate in the second edition of the Romagna dialect poetry competition named after Marino Monti (1946 – 2022), which is divided into three sections. The first is reserved for unpublished poems written by poets aged between 18 and 36. The second to all those, as long as they are adults, who write verses in the Romagna dialect.
Each competitor must send only one poem with its translation into Italian.

The third section concerns publishing because a special jury will evaluate the books of Romagna poetry published since 2019 that will reach the organizers. You can participate in the unpublished poetry section and the published book section. Interested parties must send the documents and volumes, as established by the competition regulations, to the “Marino Monti” Prize Secretariat, via Ravegnana n. 548, 47122 Forlì. The awards ceremony will be scheduled for Saturday 26 September, at 4pm in the Sala Don Bosco, via Ridolfi 29, Forlì. For further information call 3386865035; or send an email to: [email protected].

Marino Monti (1946 – 2022), appreciated dialect poet, man of cultural and civic associations, lover of Romagna traditions and educator, passionately dedicated a good part of his life to the study of the dialect language and its dissemination with the publication of essays and volumes. At a relatively advanced age he began to write poetry out of an intimate need to give space to his sensitivity, as well as out of devotion and immense love for that world in which he was born and lived for a long time, for those places, for that culture, for the tradition, to the men who have left sweat and often tears. And, again as a tribute to his origins, she chose the Romagna dialect for his lyrics. His debut occurred in 1990 and he was able to publish 10 collections of poetry with critical success.
