Sara, 21 years old, suffering from neuroblastoma, had a dream: “I would like to make my book”. Thanks to the commitment of Make-A-Wish Italia Onlus, a non-profit association that has been making the wishes of children and young people suffering from serious pathologies come true since 2004, this wish has become reality. The precious support of Mondadori, which oversaw the printing of the book, allowed Sara to be involved in the editing and graphics process.

The presentation of the book, which fulfills Sara’s wish, was attended by: in addition to the author herself and her family, Leonardo Pieraccioni, the Mayor of Terranuova Bracciolini, Luigi Braconi – Regional Coordinator of the Tuscany Volunteer Group, two volunteers from the association and Stefano’s family. Stefano, a child suffering from the same pathology as Sara, was the inspiration for the book “Express a wish”, having shared moments of hospitalization with her before her untimely death.

When the Make-A-Wish Italia Onlus volunteers met Sara, they discovered her passion for Leonardo Pieraccioni. The association managed to involve the actor and director, who wrote the preface of the book and supported Sara from the early stages of its production.

During the presentation of the book, Make a Wish volunteers recalled how important it is to have a dream, whether big or small. Make-A-Wish Italia Onlus is active throughout the national territory and receives reports from the main pediatric hospitals and families. The burden of a serious illness on a child is enormous and significantly affects their mental health and that of their family. The fulfillment of a wish therefore becomes an essential element in improving the life of a seriously ill child. Thanks to the precious support of many supporters and a network of over 250 volunteers throughout Italy, Make-A-Wish Italia Onlus has to date fulfilled over 2900 children’s wishes.
