Competition: “Silent Narrations: Artist’s Books for San Sebastiano Curone”

Innovevent announces the art competition “Silent Narrations: Artist’s Books for San Sebastiano Curone” as part of the Innovart event. The competition is open to all artists who wish to express their creativity through the creation of a unique and original work, using the book as a form of expression.

Main theme of the competition
Each artist can participate with a work exploring any theme. Experimentation is the key to this competition. Artists can use any technique and material.

Optional theme
In addition to the main prize, a special recognition will be awarded to the artist’s book that best captures and represents the optional theme: “San Sebastiano Curone and his works of art”. This theme invites artists to explore and represent the rich history, cultural heritage and architectural beauty of San Sebastiano Curone. Artists can draw inspiration from distinctive elements such as:
– Places: Historic squares, characteristic alleys, surrounding natural landscapes.
– Monuments: Historic buildings, churches, sculptures and commemorative monuments that tell the story of the city.
– Works of art: Any form of visual or architectural art present in the city that represents its cultural and artistic heritage.
– History: Investigate the history of San Sebastiano and the artists to whom he was born.
Artists are encouraged to interpret these elements in personal and creative ways, reflecting on both their historical significance and the visual and emotional impact they have.

Characteristics of the work
– The work must be created in the form of an artist’s book.
– The maximum dimensions allowed are 30 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm.
– Books must not be made with dangerous materials.
– The works must be original and not previously published.

Participation requirements
Participation in the selection is free. There is a registration fee of €20.00 only for selected artists.

Registration method
Registrations must be sent by June 30, 2024. To register, you must send an email to [email protected] with the following attachments:
– completed registration form
– Brief description of the work (max 300 words in PDF format, named: Surname-name-title-work)
– High resolution images (minimum 3, maximum 5) of the work from different angles (JPG format,
nominated: surname-name-title-work-number)
Files that do not comply with the indicated characteristics will not be taken into consideration.

Selection and notification
The selected artists will be informed by July 5, 2024.

Delivery and return of works
The selected artists must send the works to the Innovevent Association by 20 July 2024. The shipping address is: Andrea Pedemonte, Via Istituto Giani 2, San Sebastiano Curone (AL), 15056. The works can be collected at the headquarters of Innovevent at the end of the exhibition or returned at the expense of the artists. Works not collected by August 31, 2024 will become part of the Innovevent collection.

Press
1st place: €100.00 + selection of local food and wine excellences.
Best interpretation of the theme “San Sebastiano Curone and his works of art”: selection of local food and wine excellences.
The winners will be announced during the inauguration of the exhibition on 27 July 2024 at 6.30 pm.

Jury
The composition of the jury of the “Silent Narrations: Artist’s Books for San Sebastiano Curone” competition will be communicated shortly. The jury will be made up of experts in art, art criticism and local history, who will select the winning works based on the following criteria:
– Originality and creativity of the work
– Consistency with the theme of the competition
– Technical and artistic quality of the work
– Ability to evoke emotions and reflections in the viewer
