A day in the village dedicated to books and reading

Saturday 25 May 2024 – 4.05pm

A new literary festival was born in the village of Montefoscoli. It’s about Montefoscolibrì and it is presented by the local association Museum of Rural Civilization.

The appointment is for tomorrow, Sunday 26 May, from 10.30 to 19.30 and the program includes presentations, meetings, readings, exchanges and markets in the streets of the town.

“It all started with the literary competition, promoted by the Museum for several years now – he explains Lucia Calloni, who took part in the organization of the event. – There was a fertile climate to create a small cultural event”.

In fact, every year the winners of the literary competition gather in Montefoscoli for the awards ceremony. “The objective is to make the town known and experienced which, despite its modest extension, has a lot to offer, both on a human and landscape level – continues Calloni. – It hasn’t been easy but the program is complete: there are many names and they come from small publishing, some of them are making themselves known at a national level, like Alessandra Favilli with her Terra degli Orsi, or Gianni Leoni and his Forever , and Rossano Ercolini, world-famous writer, who will present We are the ocean, a manifesto for an ecology of change”.

“The idea – underlines the president of the museum association Riccardo Taddei – came from four women. We hope that this beautiful initiative will have many more editions in the future.”

Visitors will be invited to move from one area of the village to another, just like a hummingbird would: “A symbolic bird, a sign of resilience, which also represents the ability to change course in case of difficulty – explains Lucia Calloni – There will also be a market whose proceeds will go to finance the Museum’s activities. An exchange area will be provided, where it will be possible to donate your old books or those you intend to get rid of. Street food will be available throughout the event to allow visitors to spend a pleasant day in the village.”
