In Vibo the presentation of Giuseppe Lavorato’s book on the crime of Peppe Valarioti

It will be held on Friday 19 April in Ink hearts bookshop on Corso Vittorio Emanuele III in Vibo Valentia la presentation of the book Of Giuseppe Lavorato titled “Peppe Valarioti, the first political assassination carried out by the ‘Ndrangheta”, Città del Sole editions. They will dialogue with the author Abdel Ilah El Afia, of the Cgil Area Vasta Integration Department, Carmine Armellino, president of the provincial committee of the Anpi of Vibo Valentia, and Maria Joel Conocchiella of the provincial Federation of Libera of Vibo Valentia. The meeting will be moderated by Marco Russo. Giuseppe Valariotimanager of Italian Communist Partysecretary of the section of Rosarno, he was killed by the ‘Ndrangheta on 11 June 1980. The trials – despite the declarations of the justice collaborator Pino Scriva – ended with acquittals and the crime is today unpunished. On March 11, 2011, a committee was formed to ask for the reopening from the investigations on the Valarioti case. The book by the former mayor of Rosarno Giuseppe Lavorato – party comrade and lifelong friend of Peppe Valarioti – have the merit of retracing the events in years in which fundamental compartments of the Italian State were infiltrated and occupied by P2 (the secret Masonic organization built to prevent the PCI from participating in the government of the country) and in the South a similar organization was born called the ‘Santa’ and of many judicial investigations). The mafia organizations began to take over the rest of the national territory from the South in a network of malfeasance that managed to hide the truth even on excellent crimes like that of Giuseppe Valarioti. An opportunity, therefore, to rediscover – through Lavorato’s book – the battles of the many militants of the then PCI against the ‘Ndrangheta and its collusions with power.
