Florence, 28 December 2025 – The famous architect died at the age of 61 Simone Michelihonorary academic of the Florentine Academy of Drawing Arts. The academy itself reports this “joining the pain of Roberta, César and Jalel”.
Born in Viareggio in 1964, he graduated in architecture in 1989 Firenze with Giovanni Klaus Koening with a thesis entitled “Florence: Excerpts of interior architecture for commercial use. Contemporaneity and perspectives”. He has the opportunity to learn from great masters, such as Giovanni Michelucci and Bruno Zevi, figures who marked the young designer and significantly influenced his work. He is a volunteer assistant atUniversity of Florence until 1993, continuing to teach as a visiting professor in various European universities and then from 2003 to 2009 as a contract professor of furniture at the University of Florence.
He also taught at Poli.Design and at the Polytechnic School of Design in Milan. In parallel with teaching, after graduating in architecture, he founded his own architecture studio in 1990 and in 2003, with Roberta Collathe design company Simone Micheli Architectural Hero based in Florence and Milan and today in Puntaldìa, Dubai, Rabat and Busan.
His works in architecture, contract, interior design, exhibit design, design, graphics and communication, winners of numerous national and international awards, are linked to sensorial exaltation. Over the years he has signed numerous architectural interior and set-up interventions linked to the domestic and contract world. He has designed numerous everyday objects for some of the most qualified European companies in the sector. He exhibited at the Venice Biennale, architecture sector. His works have been presented in the most important international exhibitions and have appeared on the pages of prestigious Italian and foreign sector publications. His creations, sustainable and always attentive to the environment, are characterized by a strong identity aimed at translating the complexity of our present into simplicity, but with an anticipatory vision of future trends. The predilection for curved and sinuous, often enveloping shapes allows him to explore all sensory areas, since through the project he stimulates the visual, tactile, olfactory and auditory relationship, activating a synaesthetic perception. Simone Micheli’s career and all his works reveal a surprising humanist background, a classical philosophical tension that elevates into a system one of the concepts that has always been central in the contemporary art debate: “always placing man, his needs and his needs at the center of every creation”.
The funeral chapel was set up today in the studio in Florence in via Aretina 201 red; On Monday he will be in the studio in Milan in via Giovanni Ventura 6 and on Tuesday 30 December at 3pm the funeral will be held in the basilica in Piazza San Babila in Milan.
