Contemporary art returns to be the protagonist in the spaces of the ECK Museum of Art in Brunico, in the province of Bolzano, thanks to the exhibition Ab umbra lumen, the solo exhibition by Alessandro Del Pero which will be inaugurated today, 28 June, in the presence of the artist . Open to the public until September 28th, the exhibition offers an intriguing reflection on the existential theme of the conflict between light and shadow, as indicated by the Latin title of the exhibition. This investigation is conducted through large-format pictorial works, created by Del Pero starting from 2014. The exhibition, curated by Lisa Leoni and Alexandra Überbacher, is part of the museum’s annual thematic itinerary, which intends to explore the relationship between contemporary art and the sphere of human spirituality.LIGHT AND SHADOW IN DEL PERO’S LARGE CANVASESTo present Del Pero’s art in its most recent expressions, the exhibition brings together around twenty canvases dedicated to the conflictual and necessary relationship of light and shadow, investigated so much in a symbolic and psychoanalytic key, as well as from an exquisitely aesthetic point of view. The artist from Bolzano, in fact, creates canvases of great impact, populated by figures with human features crossed with animal elements. These hybrid creatures live in paradoxical environments, where both light and shadow play an essential role in representing a powerful metaphor for the human condition. Drawing on eternal symbols and themes from the history of art, Alessandro Del Pero “puts before our eyes a metaphorical interpretation of our current condition, in which the need to belong to a group or to be recognized by one’s audience is often castrated” , as the author of the critical text in the catalogue, Veronica Santi, recalls. ALESSANDRO DEL PERO’S SOLO SHOW AT THE ECK MUSEUM OF ART IN BRUNICO By combining realism and paradox, painting and plastic art, lights and shadows in his canvases, Alessandro Del Pero brings forward a complex and highly topical artistic investigation, which keeps in mind the great lessons of the art of the past to explore today’s world and its contradictions. The personal exhibition Ab umbra lumen accompanies visitors to discover a visual and conceptual art at the same time, in which the artist’s style offers itself as a possible tool for awareness and understanding of human nature.[Immagine in apertura: Alessandro Del Pero, The wonder, 2021, acrilico, olio e tempera su tela, 200x200cm]
