The Altro Depositi exhibition space is born in Rome

In 1920 in Piazza Bainsizza 13, a Romewas built on Victory Depot, a tram shed which remained active until 1963. Considered an example of early 20th century industrial architecture, part of the building which included the offices and ticket office was recovered thanks to Lorenzo BassettiRoman entrepreneur, art collector and founder of Very Collectibles, the gallery of design objects that focuses on the Italian artisan tradition.

From the multiple declinations of Verytakes shape Very Deposits inside the former Roman tram depot, transformed into a private showroom suitable for hosting cultural events and exhibitions, maintaining tangible traces of its past. “The decision was easy, to leave everything as it was despite the years of neglect”, explains Bassetti. “We have carried out an apparently invisible restoration and every space, from the entrance to the ticket office, from the ‘Head of movement’ office to the ‘Personnel executives’ office, up to the ‘Union hall’ has returned to tell its past with naturalness”.

Much Depositi opens in Rome. Word to Lorenzo Bassetti

That of Quanto Depositi is a story that is expressed with the language of arts and design, “un a story that also gave life to my art collection, and in this first event of Very Depositi, as in the following ones, very significant presences for me could not be missing”, continues Lorenzo Bassetti of Altro Collectibles. “In the “red room”, for example, next to a table by Tommaso Buzzi and some lacquered furniture from our workshops, there will be two works by Alessandro Piangiamore and my ‘scarlet’ portrait signed by Marco Colazzo. At the entrance, however, guests will discover the trompe-l’oeil screen Marco Emmanuele, artist who created a very original work even in my home in Rome. It will be a screen-wall of glass sand, it will be art that conquers every surface until it becomes an object, a domestic, daily, indispensable presence. Very Depositi wants to be precisely this, a space that contains others, a fluid, musical space, a space where we can meet and encounter those objects, those furnishings, those talents, those agreements that will also make our homes unique. Unique because our portrait.”
