Descriptive text here

Palazzo Sarcinelli opens its doors on Saturday 20 April at 6pm to the new exhibition entitled “Collezione 2024” which will host over 100 works (paintings and sculptures) from precious municipal art collections. Promoted by the Municipality of Conegliano, with the collaboration of Lorena Gava, Ennio Bornancin and the Contrada Granda, Intart and la Chiave di Sophia Associations, the exhibition constitutes an exciting journey into the art of the 20th century and today through a plurality of styles. The works on display come partly from the Goldin Collection (works that the well-known art critic collected mainly between 1988 and 1998, in the central years of his direction of the Municipal Gallery of Palazzo Sarcinelli, which ended in 2002) and partly from donations which, over time, have followed one another thanks to the generosity of the artists welcomed mainly in the spaces of Palazzo Sarcinelli. It is not the first time that the Municipality of Conegliano shows “its jewels” preserved with pride because the Collection represents a heritage of ideas, history and sensitivity: what we see today is an itinerary within the bright variety of the languages of present and just past art, in a sum of different themes that stimulate comparison, analysis and reflection. The artists present, of national and international fame, were all born in the last century and through different styles and expressive means interpret the transformations, anxieties and beauties of a very complex time. The exhibition choice relies on the varied rhythm of the narrative, dictated by the colour, the shape, the sign or the gesture: visual suggestions that generate multiple horizons of meaning due to the happy heterogeneity of the expressive codes adopted.

Comments

Mayor Fabio Chies presents the exhibition thus: «The opening to the public of this beautiful exhibition in a prestigious historical context such as Palazzo Sarcinelli is an important signal for our city and for the entire world of Conegliano culture and art seen which displays a collection of its hidden treasures. I thank all those who collaborated in the realization of this great work in favor of the valorisation of the cultural heritage of our city with synergies put in place, fundamental in carrying forward important projects in the interest of the city and of a sector also with the municipal administration, that of cultural heritage, which can become a driving force for development and growth not only on a cultural but also tourism level”.

«It is important to make the city aware of the works that are part of the municipal art collection – adds the councilor for Culture, Cristina Sardi -, an extraordinary heritage available to the community. Organizing this exhibition required the collaboration and synergy of associations and people who made themselves available to create this exhibition which includes exceptional authors and works of undisputed artistic value and importance. My hope is that all citizens will want to take the time to visit Palazzo Sarcinelli which over time has become a point of reference for art and share a unique collective asset with us.”
