Certa Stampa – PHOTO-VIDEO/ EXPERIMENTAL INITIATIVE IN TERAMO: TERAMANI ARTISTS EXHIBIT IN A COIN-OPERATED LAUNDRY…AT GAMMARANA: THERE IS A LACK OF CULTURAL SPACES

This morning the L’Arca laboratory, one of the three spaces currently available, is the launch pad for the new exhibition season of Celeste, the collective name that brings together Alessandro Di Massimo, Andrea Marinucci and Claudia Petraroli.
For three years now, the Teramo artists say, they have repurposed the LAVAPIU coin-operated laundry room as an art gallery, when in the era of the pandemic, they found themselves confined to the Teramo reality and to re-inhabit it. “That laundry was the only open place in Gammarana so we dared to bring our projects there.”
The third year of this now consolidated experiment appreciated by national critics is called La Cura and, in line with the principle that moves the spirit of the three young people “to take care of emerging Abruzzo artists but also to bring more established names to the area”, This year’s program includes exhibitions by Davide Sgambaro, Jonathan Monk and the performance event born from the idea of the curator Maurizio Coccia, in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila.
“The intent of How I Met your Laundry” explains professor Franco Fiorillo “is to create an Academy spread across the territory. The event was conceived as a review of performative interventions in the Laundry area in which an entire class will participate of the Academy. One of them is Andrea Marinucci himself.”
Although born as an experimental initiative that adopts an alternative method based on the performative aspects of contemporary art, the Teramo administration immediately welcomed the project with enthusiasm which, among other things, fills the empty spaces of the city at a time when the art and culture have no place to be.
“In the restructuring phase we are experiencing” comments councilor Filipponi “occasions like this allow us to offer cultural opportunities to the community. Every place is a useful place to create culture and create art.”
