It is in the spirit of the motto of Donald Trump that theHungary Of Viktor Orbán inaugurates his rotating European presidency, which will officially start on July 1st and end on December 31st 2024. A presidency, the Hungarian one, which arrives at a very delicate moment for the European institutions, involved in the appointment of the community leaders and then of the members of the future Commission.
The launch of the presidency program took place in Budapest and will be repeated in the coming days in Brussels. The logo refers to Rubik’s cube, the famous architect born in the Hungarian capital in 1944. The programme, despite the transition period that will mark the Hungarian semester, promises to be full.
“Hungary takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union at a time of extraordinary circumstances and challenges. Our continent is facing common challenges due to the war in our neighbourhood, the EU is increasingly lagging behind its global competitors “, we read in the foreword of the programme, which lists some of the fragilities of the EU: “Illegal migration, the vulnerability of international supplies, natural disasters, the effects of climate change and the impact of climate change and the impact of demographic trends”. The priorities of the Orbán government also include the strengthening of European defense and “an agricultural policy oriented towards farmers”.
