Prodi, speaking at an event in Bologna, spoke of “I gamble“. The reasons for the blow can be summarized as follows: it is a very slippery gamble to send the country to the vote again while clinging to a slim hope of being able to witness a sudden change of political winds just a few days after the advance of the right in the elections Europeans.
“Believing that in 4 weeks you can totally change the idea of a country… But Napoleon is Napoleon, we’ll see how it ends“, was Prodi’s analysis. According to him, the fact that “you don’t vote with your brain but with your gut“, which is why he was very perplexed and worried about the scenario that could emerge in light of the current political context in France: “Macron has become at this moment unfriendly. It is difficult to change instinctive feelings in such a short period“.
A political earthquake is already underway in France, feared by the release of the first exit polls a week ago and then sanctioned with the decisions announced by Macron. In a few days there will be a new appointment at the polls: the right of National Rally (RN), Marine Le Pen’s party, hopes to make history and confirm success in the upcoming elections. The intention is to achieve triumph by focusing on the alliance with the republicans but, given the effects within the Gaullists, we will have to see what the implications of the new axis will be.
